Tragic Loss: Gary Sinise Mourns Son’s Passing

Actor Gary Sinise and his family are mourning the passing of his son, McCanna Anthony “Mac” Sinise, who died at 33.

Devastating Announcement

Gary, 68, shared the heartbreaking news of Mac’s death on the Gary Sinise Foundation’s website and his Instagram page, revealing that Mac lost his battle to cancer on January 5.

Brave Battle Against Cancer

In a poignant statement, Gary disclosed that Mac had been battling a rare form of cancer known as Chordoma since August 8, 2018. This tragic diagnosis followed shortly after Gary’s wife, Moira Harris, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.

Strength Amidst Challenges

While Moira successfully underwent treatment and entered remission, Mac’s condition worsened over time, affecting his strength and mobility.

Passion for Music and Contribution to the Foundation

Despite his health challenges, Mac remained resilient, pursuing his love for music. He joined the Gary Sinise Foundation as an assistant manager of education and outreach, showcasing his talent as a drummer alongside his father in the Lt. Dan Band.

Musical Legacy and Creative Spirit

Deeply passionate about music, Mac graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in songwriting and composition. Despite undergoing five spine surgeries between 2018 and 2020, Mac’s paralysis from the chest down did not hinder his creativity. He completed work on an album titled “Resurrection & Revival” shortly before his passing.

Heartfelt Sorrow and Resilience

Gary expressed profound sorrow at losing a child, acknowledging the immense difficulty for parents in such circumstances. He found solace in knowing that Mac was no longer suffering and was inspired by his resilience.
