So happy he found his true love!
I have a soft spot for reality shows that aim to help people in need. One of my all-time favorites is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which is hosted by the charming Ty Pennington. Ty first gained popularity as a carpenter on the BBC’s Trading Spaces, and his good looks and talent soon landed him a gig as the host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Over the course of nine seasons, the show brought joy and relief to thousands of families by providing them with brand new homes. Ty was thrilled to be a part of such a worthwhile project, but it wasn’t without its challenges. In a 2007 interview with Ability Magazine, he revealed that they received over 4,000 video submissions each week from people requesting help. Although he couldn’t help everyone, he was heartened to see that some of the families they had assisted were paying it forward by helping others in turn.
While hosting the show was a dream come true for Ty, it took a toll on his personal life. He was so busy that he barely had time to see his family or girlfriend for a decade. When the show ended in 2011, he took on other projects, including hosting other TV shows and opening a design store in Los Angeles.
In addition to his hosting duties on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Ty Pennington also lent his expertise to renovations on Trading Spaces and made an appearance on the show Small Business Revolution: Main Street, produced by Deluxe Corporation. Recently, he popped the question to his girlfriend, Kellee Merrell, who works as a social media manager and is 33 years old. Ty presented Kellee with a stunning diamond ring in the shape of a teardrop, and the couple is preparing to move into their new residence in Savannah, Georgia. Ty has confessed that he never anticipated getting married, but meeting Kellee changed his perspective.
Although Ty wasn’t invited to host the most recent revival of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, he bears no hard feelings. We’re thrilled that Ty has found love and is settling down with the woman of his dreams.
